Porsche unveils third-generation Cayenne SUV

Porsche Cayenne

Porsche has taken the covers off the new Cayenne SUV. The Cayenne, Porsche's most successful product in India and second most successful world-wide, was unveiled at a global event in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany.

The new Cayenne has been mildly redesigned but it is underneath the exterior where the major changes have been made to the car. The new SUV has shed weight when compared to its predecessor and is based on a new contemporary platform. An aluminium body structure and a 48V electrical system are some of the major changed made to the Cayenne.

The car will make its official debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, on 6 September. The new Cayenne will be available in two variants, Cayenne and Cayenne. They will get newly developed 3.0-litre and 2.9-litre V6 petrol engines, respectively. They are tuned to make 330hp and 450Nm of torque and 428hp and 549Nm of torque, respectively.

The new Cayenne shares its underpinnings with the Audi Q7 Bentley Bentayga. Upcoming SUVs like the Volkswagen Touareg and Lamborghini Urus are said to utilise the same platform. The new Cayenne will come to India by the middle of next year.
